Concert ticket prices

Had a look at presale tickets for the Eagles at Wembley next year . FMOB ! £250+ for pitch seated tickets . £190 + for any decent stand seat ! Queen and Adam Lambert at the O2 also ridiculously priced . People talk about touts etc taking the piss . Now the bands themselves are doing it !

That's mental. 12 years ago I went to see Prince at the o2. It cost just £30. And that was for every seat. 600,000 saw him so he got a gross of £18 million, which isn't shabby, but his audience mostly got a good seat not too far from the stage (he performed in the round) and because he did 20 nights he gave loads of people the chance to see a genuine star.
It's a bloody shame that other big acts haven't followed suit.
Nowadays I restrict myself to local gigs down here in the west country. In the last few months I've seen Nick Lowe and Wishbone Ash, and it only cost a score to see each of them.

Supply and demand. Baby boomers got the best of most things but they also get to pay.

Theres no money in the actual music anymore so you pay more to listen to the music you get for free.
Sign of the times.

Guess they charge what they can and would use the excuse of saying that’s how they make money as cunts keep stealing their recorded product so there is much less money from that.
Same boost in most theatre ticket prices has happened in the last few years as well. What used to be £30 to £40 for a ticket is £70. Or £125 or more.

I think the key to it is being selective with who you really want to see.
Also, buying tickets on the day from viagogo etc. has also worked. Got into see The Who at Wembley for a fraction of what the face value would've been.
Will probably chance it the same for gigs towards the end of next year too.

There's no money in the actual music anymore.
Especially for older groups/artists with a strong back catalogue.
Most music income is from streaming, which is a hits driven business. Not what older bands/artists produce. So they need their money from some where.
Don't forget on a £250 ticket, £42 goes straight to the government in VAT.
Did see the Eagles at Wembley this year. Were brilliant.

They have to pay me a very large sum of money to watch a pop music concert, which would be my idea of what hell would be like. Loud banging noises, blokes on stage simulating masturbation with guitar handles, and being surrounded by morons screaming, shouting and jumping up and down.

there's still plenty of bands/acts that aren't greedy and charge reasonable prices, but I agree most of the big acts now take the piss. you can probably understand it for something like the latest muse tour when they really out on a big show with effects and other shit

I can’t give two tickets away for Pete Tong tonight (Friday) think they are about £50 face value.
Rammenstien are doing a stadium tour next year , doubt if that’s going to be cheap.

I've just stopped buying ones that I think are overpriced.
Not a case of affording it or not, I'm just not prepared to have the piss taken.
Unless Rush toured again, then I'd sell my spleen for a ticket...
